Christmas day

Spent christmas day in orchard.....

First of all got a pink daisy for my dear. Flowers seemed to have an unexplained, profound effect on girls. Something that guys can never and will never understand. I for one, only understand that my dear loves flowers, but i don't understand why. haha......

Watched the christmas light up at orchard road. This stretch from the Istana to PS was especially nice. These light created sort of an enchanted, magical garden feel.

There are lots of people at orchard on christmas day. Most of them were busy taking pictures of the chirstmas light up. The picture below shows a part of the road that is not being blocked off by the traffic police. These people are standing in the middle of the road with kids and tripods, trying to take a nice picture of the lightup. The cars have to horn their way though the people jaywalking, urm... jay-photoshooting, jay-standing, jay-strolling... ur you get the idea.......

God, i even see a baby pram in the middle of the road with daddy busy taking pictures for mommy and kids. :S Thats what i call irresponsible parents.

Here is a picture i took on christmas eve at harbour front. Look at this tree, its being decorated with Ferro Roche chocolates. Nice? Well... take a closer look at the next picture...

See that???? People actually STEAL the chocolates meant to decorate the tree. OMG.... thats terrible, horrible, anti-social behaviour of Singaporeans. Some people are really cheap-skate.... two boxes of Ferro Roche Chocolates are selling for only $16 at Watsons nearby? What happened to the spirit of christmas? The must be nice and all that. When i was there, there was even a security guard there to keep an eye on the tree. How sad to see this happening on christmas?

Fisherman's Wharf

Had dinner at the Fisherman's Wharf. It is a great and cheaper alternative to Fish and Co. There is no service charge or govt tax as well. Although there is no air-conditioning, it is rather airy and cooling to sit around there. This place is great and the fish and chips test good too!

Genting highlands

When to Genting Highlands (malaysia) last weekend. It was an approximately 330 km drive away. Set off from my home at about 7am and reached there at around 3pm. Had numerous meal and toilet breaks in between. Driving there was definitely quite an experience. Something to introduce me to long distance driving. In Singapore, at most you only get to drive from Changi to Jurong and back. Here, i get to experience what it is like to be driving for 3-4 hours non-stop. Going there was fun, coming back was tiring, esp when everyone else in the car was asleep except you. Finally understand what is driver's fatigue ;)

Drivers there are basically on the whole, rather courteous i would say. They do not horn unneccessarily, even when you happen to cut into their lanes. However, after awhile, i realised that actually, their act of not horning is not due to courtesy. Actually, people cutting sharply into your lane without signalling (nearly caused me to had an accident) , tail-gating even when u are driving at 12okm/h, and driving dangerously close to you due to them not following their own lanes ( one of them scatched the left side of my car due to this >:( ) has becomed such a common practice that most cannot be bothered to horn anymore. Bloody Bastards!!!!! But i noticed something good as well, heavy vehicles such as lorries, buses and trucks will keep left on highways unless overtaking. Over here, i had seen some lorries and trucks hogging the right lanes. Super inconsiderate! I think singaporeans are one of the most inconsiderate drivers in the world! Special mentions goes to taxi and lorry drivers!

Stayed over at the First World Hotel. Here is how the place looks like. If you are not here for the joy rides at the theme parks or the casino, basically there is nothing left to do. Going outdoors require a pass which in turn requires your to pay an additional fee. Something which i thought is damn ridiculous! Things here are bloody expensive as well. 3 fishballs for 3 ringgit!!! Thats $1.50. Which means each fishball is 50 cents. And mind you, they are not exactly tasty. Cold and hard fishballs that tasted as if it has been heated up from last night's dinner at 50 cents each. Wow! Singapore have peanuts, but malaysia got their very own fishball as well.

Oh did i mentioned that they had fried prawn for 6 ringgit each? Thats 3 bucks per prawn. Thats one bloody golden prawn eh.... maybe it was a lobster in disguise....

pay fine still got lucky draw wor.....

I was paying my parking fine the other day via the so called efficient, otherwise partially faulty SAM machine that is not suppose to make your life miserable. I stood in front of the machine for close to 20 mins trying very very hard not to lose my temper by smashing the monitor, trying to navigate the bloody interface and non-sensitive, slightly misaligned touch screen. When i finally found out where to pay my bloody fines.... Tada!!! It prompts me to key in my NIRC number as there would be a lucky draw. Woah.... pay fine still got lucky draw wor.... how cooool is tat!!! Singapore is really a "fine" city man, so many people pay fines until can have lucky draw. Wonder wat the prizes were?

Parking coupons? Not bad, since singapore very hard to find free parking. Where to find? And the probability of the parking auntie slipping the summon paper under your windscreen wipers is 0.98783 when you forgot or deliberately to/not place your parking coupons. Maybe their parking fines revenue is too high thats why got lucky draw. Looks good on the financial report. :P

I wonder what bleak future lies ahead here..... Even people who underpays their bus fares can get thrown into jail. You need your IC to buy bloody chewing gum, and the economy only looks good during pre-election. Hmmm.... food for thought.

go-kart!

When go-karting in JB last week with my uni-friends. Look at this picture! We looked like 6 cocksters :S

The race course is big enough for a good race :) The only bad thing is that the helmet has not visor and hence, lotsa sand particles and dust kept flying into my eyes. So most of the time, i can't see whats ahead clearly.

Hope to go there again. Its real fun.

Have not been updating regularly... Too busy playing la... Holidays also very busy one u know?
Some updates... been to JB for KTV, Go-kart and seafood. Very SHIOK! Also have been watching VCDS... HK dramas la... my canto now got improve abit liao..... Playing games.... gunz, winning11...... and also, have been going out.

Going malaysia again this coming weekend. Genting highlands! Will be driving there.... This will be my first time driving long distances, so hence i am pretty excited about it. Yay.......!!!

Hair cut!!!

Both of us had a haircut at chapter 2 yesterday. Hair desperately needed some trimming.... starting to look like a caveman. Ya... just like a person trapped in an island. Ever wondered how come people at the LOST series, their hair never seemed to grow? And some of them can change clothes now and then. One of them can even sunbathe in a bikini. Hmm... sounds like something to increase viewership.

Anyway this is how we look after the haircut. The coloring is done by joey, not by the salon :P

Saw this at Clarke Quay NEL today. Never seen such a dumb thing in my whole life. Come on, will i want to buy a stupid night rider owl. "Lovely beanie" .... pui~~~ plain dumb!

These posters are also such an eye sore. Just anyhow paste on the wall. Wah lau... dun have proper notice board is it? :P

Ipod Nano and the new ipod

Went to apple shop to have a hands on feel of the new ipod nano (okok it has been out in the market for quite awhile)

WAAaaaah....!!! So chio! ;)

1000 songs, Impossibly small....
Its real small. But the click wheel is managable, you can still see photos clearly on its high resolution screen. You must go down there and hold it before u can fully appreciate it.

Damn nice lah.... can trade in my Ipod 4G 20GB not.... :P

Lin Jun Jie

Everyone should listen to JJ's new album. Its mainly R&B in chinese. Talk about East meets West....
"Bian hao 89757" is a great and catchy song.... others are also very catchy... :)

My recommended tracks...... Track 2, 3, 5, 10, 12.

Only recently got to know this great pop singer from Singapore. Gonna dig out his old songs and see if they are nice anot.

Addicted to this album...............

When click got stuff fly out of the mouse button. Guess its time to try to figure out what those stupid java code meant.

exams are OVER!

WOOT!

Finally over... 12 days mad rush to the 4 papers in the exams is too much. I barely had 2 days to study my notes, do my remaining tutorials as well as past year exam papers. Its also the first time since year 1 that i actually went into exams not attempting any past year papers. So basically, the exam questions are the first time that i am tackling engineering problems without the aid of tutorial solutions.

Talk about living life on the edge....... ;)

What did i do immediately after my exams.??? No not sleep, i proceeded on to clean my room!!!! Its really becoming a pig's dent. Ha ha... the amount of dust that i sweeped up is damn alot.
Then i proceeded helping my dear write her cheatsheet. Actually she wrote liao. Then about 4 days before the exam, her lecturer emailed to the class and announced that the cheatsheet can only contain formulas and nothing else....

-_-"________________

FUCK LA.... ccb nb knnbccb........ !!!! What sorta nonsense is that. Seriously, if reallie like that shld have fucking say early right like before beginining of the reading week. Fuck that lecturer man..... stupid ass.... know how long she took to write that helpsheet not... took her 2.5 days..... and time is precious during exams period u know.... And yur paper is not the only fucking module she has.... and before yur fuck exam she got 1 more paper the day before as well...... FUCK U MAN. Better wake up your motherfucking idea...... And to that idiot who ask the lecturer what can be included in the cheatsheet. FUck u too... stupid ass .... u stupid cannot think right. This kinda question also can ask. Stupid fool.... maybe its jus yur FUCK UP genes...... u mother fucking cheesepie!!!!! pui~~~~~~~

Sorry.... too angry..... some of the lecturers in this so called worldclass used to be top20 now become top30 university really have no fucking brain to think properly one....... THis is one of the many classic examples......

okok

calm down......................................

relax..........................................................

phew......................................................................

Now??? I am a full time gunz player.... still at the noobish lvl8. Must quickly level up so tat at least can fight properly with radeoo and arrowhead. Fighting with them in gunz really tests my reflexes as well as the durability of the "w a s d and spacebar" keys on my keyboard man.... That is reallie too much. I am like trying to fight osama with a butter knife.

Now i am actually waiting for clarence and kenzo to play gunz so that i can frag them ;) woohoo.....
Gunz is so much better than gunbound. Gunbound is turn based..... slow la.... gunz much faster and more exciting.

View from my window in PGP. Pretty vegetated outside eh. Thankfully it doesn't bring in the mosquitoes as well......

My room is simply great. Its quiet. Its less dusty than my previous room. No sun ever shines directly into my room making it into a greenhouse.

Simply great.........

Not much of a view though....... But the greenary makes it refreshing in the early mornings.

But at night????

Everything is just pitch black outside.

Went out yesterday and watched this.......

Its a very nice show. Touching... ;-)

How often are we guilty of being so pre-occupied with work that we neglected the one we love?

Term paper....

Basically, the whole of today is dedicated to writing my damn term paper which supposely should be 5000 words long. Right now the current word count is 3876. Argh ... about 1000 words more to go. Writing is ok, organising tons of information and facts is not. And some of the internet resources are damn unreliable.... so what i am doing is verifying fact by fact and organising all the points into categories in order to write a more organised paper instead of a whole lump of shit that is nothing more than verbal diarrhoea.

Tip for writing such a long paper and not having mental block??? Easy... once u fuck it.... i mean really fuck it. Then everything comes. The clarity of thought comes and before u know it, you have added another 1000 more words. Ha ha... just wack first, then later read thru and edit again. At least you get something started.

damn busy

Haven got the time to blog recently.... got damn busy and tied up with work. Been staying in school for more than 14 hours on the average each day for the past week. Think that this has taken a toll me and i am feeling extremely tired these days and had trouble keeping myself awake withoug caffine. Ha.......

On the brighter side, managed to steal a few hours away to the Tango bar in Holland V. Not a bad place i might say, but i would rather chill out at Eski Bar. But it was too crowded then. Some other time perhaps. Its really nice to take a little break and have some drinks to chill. Yeah!!! Looking forward to catching a movie this wednesday. Its the Andy Lau movie.

Okok back to my books.......

sad....

Feeling disturbed and unsettled for the past week.... Work stress?? Personal problems??

Just hope that things will cool off after awhile. Think i shouldn't say anything for now. Combination of stress and anger could make things worst. Best to wait awhile....
I don't want to say the wrong things again..... I don't want to say things i do not mean when i am angry again.....

Wondered how many times things that i had said in a spate of anger have caused hurt to friends and love ones around me???

To the victims of my viscious tongue of anger, i offer my sincere apologies....

Death by programming......

Programming blues....

I am currently trying to do the recording function of my musical keyboards but somehow, stuff that i stored into an array seemed to get lost in some blackhole and cannot be found!!!!!

stuck yet AGAIN!

I feel like.....

1)Throwing myself out of the window......

2)Banging my head against the wall.....

3)Screaming my lungs out.....

4)Shooting cockroaches.....

5)Drinking a cup of coke....

Think i shall settle for option 5.
Its the safer choice.....

Definition of a undergrad

An Undergrad is a person who is usually broke and always sleepless due to many late nights studying or partying. He or she will always look forward to graduation until he or she found out the horrors of the working world and wish that time would reverse itself.

crap.............

terrorist again....

sigh...
another bomb, more innocent dead.... Once again this is a constant reminder that the nightmare that begins from september 11 have not ended and might never will.

When will this end??? I wonder what is happening in those terrorist's mind. Mislead beliefs or pure evil? Nevertheless they must be evil at heart in the first place to be mislead by a senseless faith that is so unoxthrodox, that urges them to do evil, to take innocent lives, to impose their own beliefs onto others, all in the false name of their God.

So much destruction, i sometimes wonder if religion is really relevant in today's world. Looking back at history, religion has directly caused many wars. The Christian Crusade during the Middle ages is one example. I wonder how many people were killed? Countless of people in the past were punished by death based on religious beliefs. I wondered if religion really bring peace to this world. Does God exist??? Is he relevant? I used to attend church, but with all these questions around me that goes unanswered, i find it hard to accept the faith. When i was in church, i saw many people subjected to blind faith as well. This is scary. They don't question what they believe, they don't evaluate if its relevant, they just follow, as thought whatever the pastor said, is the word of God himself. What if the pastor is a devil in disguised here to mislead us???

Been neglecting this blog. Don't have the time really. HAhah... my aNUS shit hole is fast filling up! I really have alot of shit to clear man... (refer to previous post)To those reading... dun get offended by that aNUS post. Its meant to be HUMOUROUS... and aNUS is some instituition that i came up with in my boundless imagination. If u are offended, then stop reading my blog and get the hell outa here. :P

Nowadays must be very carefull everywhere man. Walk outside kena mosquito bite also can die.... blogging write too sensitive, too liberal or even sometimes jus speaking yur mind can get charged and u can die too.... So many ways to die man. Life is so short.

ok i am talking crap. I am blogging now because the program i was writing has this irritating logical error that i cannot solve. So i thought that taking a break would be good.

My room in PGP is good. Its well shaded from the sun at all times of the day. The only thing is, it smell like someone just piss in it when i first moved in and it still does even though i have been mopping it regularly. I wonder who the previous tenant was... Must be....... ########.

Time to buy some air freshener......

Hostel application successful...

Yeah... never been so happy man. No more 1.5 hour bus rides, no more 3 demerit hours everyday, no more squeezing up the bus, no more stupid 151.....

I got a room in PGP block 28. Shall not publish the room number jus in case some people wanna set fire. One thing about PGP, on the outside, it looks like a high class condominium. On the inside??? It looks like some construction worker quarters. HAhah!!! Its rather small, with peeling walls. And from the looks of it, i guess making the windows a little bigger for ventilation is an expensive affair. Fan looks painfully close to the ceiling, resulting in such a crappy aerodynamics that granted it ineffective.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO CARES!!!! whahahaha....... They are gonna repaint the walls today. And i am gonna move in tonight.

Never ending shit...

Life in uni....

You start each sem with a sense of "anticipation". You fondly recall getting fustrated with Cors during the inital days, then rush to ballot for tutorials maybe for the next 2 weeks. Then come week4 , shit starts accumulating and before u know it, you sleep less, eat irregular meals, feel irritatable, miss home, miss gf ..... blah blah blah..... coz u always have never ending shit to do.

Not difficult to visualise??? Well i just came out with an analogy and some illustration.

Imagine a pit, not too deep, not too shallow either. Actually the depth depends on individual. (refer to illustration). Above this shit pit, is yur beloved aNUS. Yep, its shaped like an asshole, reason being that its there to make yur life difficult. So this aNUS have never ending shit, and the shit jus starts to accumulate in the pit....... So now u come into the picture. You don't want the pit to be overflowing with shit, so u desperately try to clear it daily with yur shovel. Now, the rate if shit coming down from that asshole increases with each week, so u must clear it as fast as you can...... Here there are 3 kinds of people.

The hardworking geeks.
These guys are damn efficient at clearing the shit. Somehow they got the stamina and seem to defy sleep as well. Some of them are even able to see the bottom of the pit and dig it deeper somemore. If they are helpful, they might even come to your shit hole and help you clearup abit.

Ordinary individuals
These guys are hardworking but not efficient enuff at shit clearing. Hence, sometimes they do get overwhelmed by too much shit from aNUS. However, eventually, through hardwork, perserverence, constant rantings and some help from friends, they managed to maintain the level of shit a reasonable level. ( They dun get their feet full of shit )

Slackers
These are the simply bo chup type. They clear shit for 1 day, rest for 3 days. Soon the shit overflows and they get overwhelmed. They tried desperately to clear but its too late. They drown. Soon, aNUS just comes over and help you "Da Bao" those shit to the next sem, into a brand new shit pit where they can start anew. (hopefully)
Warning... never fall into this category.

Sounds tough??? Fret not. You have a trump card at hand. Every sem, aNUS will have sudden diarrhoea and let off a whole lump of shit. Then it will go to sleep for the next four days. Don't ask why its 4 days... its dumb..... yeah.... So for the next four days, you can quickly clear all the shit so that u can have a easier time for the rest of the sem. yea????

So happy shit clearing guys....

Curse of the perfectionist.

Just spent more than an hour editing a simple question to be emailed to the tutor. Sigh, why am i always so critical of my own work as well as others? Sometimes i think that if i could just let go, i would have been a very different person. Maybe i wouldn't even take engineering at all and pursue something that i am truly interested in, like History or Philosophy..... I used to be very interesting in Archaeology. I would watch many documentaries as well as read many books on the ancient egyptians, the greeks as well as the roman empire. But there is really nothing to dig here on this island. Faced with passion and practicality, i would always choose to be practical. Afterall, ultimately, we need money in our wallets and food on our table. Passion in our heart is always good, but it won't fill your stomach.....

Milk...

Seemed like my body has something against lactose.... Whenever i drank milk or take any dairy products, i am sure to lau sai ( meaning a penomena where your shit comes in liquid form and you are literally pissing shit..... )

The only form of milk i can take is the condensed milk, evaporated milk or HL milk. Meaning that there is something about lactose that makes mi piss shit.

Sigh.... hopefully there is a way around this as i really like milk. Haha... you can say i am willing to piss shit for some milk or ice-cream. :P

Programming blues....

Trying to write my program for mini project1 and feeling pissed~

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Rock and roll..........

My brain isn't working at 12am... so i figured that i shld clear up some of the mess in my room. And i found these.....

Yes!!! they are my drum sticks!!!! Bought them when i was in JC two. And guess what, i broke it on the very same day that i bought it. So the the tip was actually superglued together and it still works fine. Superglue is good. Well, that day, Shiyu and Derrick's guitar amps were beside my ear. And their guitars were so damn loud that i couldn't really hear what i was playing. And the harder i hit the drum skins, the louder they crank up their guitars. Erm.... you get the idea......
So what happened next is that i hit the cymbals so hard that the tip of the drum stick broke O_0
Actually i couldn't really play the drums. I only know a few basic beats. Derrick and Shiyu can play the guitar better than me so i end up behind the drums. LOL. But i really like being the drummer :P

Next i found these......

My guitar picks in all different colours and thickness........ I used to have a transparent one which was my favourite. Coz it feels just right, not too stiff and not too flabby. Too bad its lost now. So now i use the blue one.

And my guitar..........

Its such a long time since i played anything on it! I wonder if i still can play................. Bought this from peninsular plaza 3-4 years ago. Not a bad guitar for its price. Has rather weak pickups thou.......

Have a sudden urge to jam.................
Time to download some tabs....

TIps for doing undergraduate labs

Feeling extremely drained and tired. Just completed my 3rd lab report for the past 7 days!!!! ArGh!!!! I hate doing lab reports. Even copying them takes up alot of time. If you haven't done lab reports before.... here are some tips on getting that damn thing done!

1. Be Prepared
Nothing is more horrifying coming to lab unprepared. Forget about reading the lab manual first. The very first thing you should do is to go through your phone book and call yur friendly seniors. Ask them for their lab reports!!!!! Get those with hight marks, ie at least 8.5 and above! Don't be a dumbass and get one that is 6/10. Then wonder how come your own report has a below average grade. With the report, you can have some reference before u start reading that damn manual. Its as difficult as reading some ancient arabic scriptures. trust me!!!

2. During the lab.
Your lab TA is most probably some useless piece of shit. They all have something in common. Their oral skills in english absolutely sucks to the core. In army, they refer to such people as speaking with a **** in their mouth. Those da lu ppl talk damn loudly on the bus and public places but when it comes to giving instructions or doing a briefing, they speak like mice. As for glks..... most are too lazy to chup you.
Some common mispronoucations you should get used to.....
i) sickness = thickness
" the par-meter t is sickness of the wirar.... "
ii) paradise = parallel
" as you can see, these two wira are paradise..."
iii) repeat = Vb
" u must take the readin for repeat ...."
iv) Cast = ask ; anything = eating
" eating you dunno, can cast me..... "

Well the list is non-exhausive. You will learn more along the way as you go thru more lab sessions. Talk about foreign talent huh....... They always argue whether they make the pie bigger or take away the iceing. In my point of view, most of them would make a good cheesepie !

3) Copy every shit from the whiteboard.
Yes!!! very important. Take a photo of it if u must. You don't want to be clueless and tearing your hair at 2am in the morning trying to do your lab report. Whatever that is on the board contains important formulas and information!!!! Just copy everything and i meant everything. even spelling mistakes (just kidding). But be forewarned. Stuff on the whiteboard are usually written in the most hideous handwritting on planet earth. Don't say i didn't warn you. The same guys that can't speak properly also can't write for peanuts!!!!
Alternatively a senior's report will suffice......

4) make friends!!!!
don't ever walk alone. Chances are, your friends may know some bits of information you don't know and vice-versa. It will definitely make life easier when you know that help is just a phone call away...... It could save you a few hours of sleep.

5) Google is your best friend
Always use this if you and your friends don't know the answers to any questions. You should know how to use google!!!

Alright, compiled a list of 5 tips. Hopefully its helpful hahahha.

New york City Garbage...

Hey this is pretty cool..... New york city garbage in a cube. A perfect example of how good packaging can sell even useless things like well, erm garbage!

Check out their website at http://www.nycgarbage.com

It will make a good bedroom display item and a nice artistic sovenior from NYC. Also it doesn't leak and stink yur neighbourhood so you won't get into trouble with the pesky govt authorities here.

Tempted????????????????????????

I nearly fell victim to this marketing technique before i realised that each cube is going for US$50 bucks!!!! MY GOD...... talk about premium collector item's garbage......

Maybe i should start collecting rubbish around Singapore and put them in cubes. Then i can start selling them with a slogan that says
" Garbage from Singapore: Worthless in a cube, $100 fine when on the floor"

I am brain-dead. Just got home some 20 mins ago close to 1am. The night air is always so humid. My block is approximately 10 mins walk from the bus stop. So going out in the afternoons is a pain since by the time you get there, you are already sweating as though u ran a few blocks due to the afternoon heat. At night, you will just have to drag your tired feet all the way home while the humid air makes you all sweaty and sticky. This feeling sucks man.
Sometimes i just wished that the busstop would be a little nearer. So that i don't have to carry my heavy bag and walk that far, at other times i appreciate the fact that i am far enough from the road to have some piece and quiet. You don't hear buses roaring past, bikes screeching or cars horning over here. The only noise is that PLMGS is directly beneath my block and there can be quite abit of noise just after school hours. But its already an improvement. Before that, it was Serangoon Garden Secondary School and they are more capable of making a din.
I am really quite a hermit i guess. I am also really sensitive to noise. I get very irritated at the slightest noise whenever i am doing my work. :P Almost to the extend that i might throw a shoe at the source... Nowadays, taking the MRT can be rather irritating as well. You get countless reminders to report any suspicious items, constant messages telling you what the next stop is.... U got kids running around playing monkey on public trains while their parents act blur. I really wonder if there is something seriously wrong with parenthood these days. How can they allow their kids to run on rampages in public places???? I would smack him or her if my kid does that. You also got irritating people playing with the ringtones of their phones. Worst, the other day there was this guy that was playing his mp3s ALOUD on the train. Everyone can hear his music. And we all know what kinda fucked up music some ppl play right?!?! Come on, can he be more considerate?!?!?! No money to buy earphones is it??? Sometimes, a group of teenages will group together talking damn loudly. ARGH..............

I just hate taking public transport, how i wish i have my own car :P

what the fuck????

The Honorary Assistant Secretary of NUSSU, Aaron, had the opportunity of meeting up with the chairman of the CORS task force as well as the vice-dean of FASS, and their response to the problems of CORS is as follows:

Server Crashes
___________________________________________________
It is the result of irrational behaviour by students. NUS specially rents one of the most high-end servers available in Singapore for the entire CORS period for each semester. However, even the most powerful servers will not be able to handle the traffic if everyone decides to log in at the same time. The situation becomes worse when keep logging in and out once they sense a server slowdown because that action in itself, creates even more traffic.

Hey.... what kinda fucked up response is that??? Clearly they are trying to "smoke" thru the situation here and shifting the blame from their incompetent servers to us, the victims. One of the most high-end servers in Singapore??? What brand? From where? what are the technical specifications? This is one of the most fallacious piece of shit i have ever heard. How about having more servers? Of cause everyone is trying to log in at around the same time. We just want to get this damn thing done early in the morning and get on with our lives for the rest of the day. We don't want to spend the whole day in front of the computer screen and constantly clicking the refresh button while at the same time swearing all sorta vulgarities that our dear Army has taught us during our NS days!!!!

sigh...... they never learn do they? Looks like this is gonna be a every semester affair.......

Of NUS and dress code...

Attempted to follow to the so called NUS dress code that OSA setup god knows since when. There is a notice at the notice board outside the OSA office that gives u more information if u are interested.... Anyway, i wanted to do this as an experiment, so for the first time i wore jeans, shoes and t-shirt to campus in an attempt to be so called "presentable".

Its really not practical in singapores humid weather..... Today i had lessons at engine and science. Walking around campus nearly made me die of heatstroke. Before i even arrived to my first lesson for the day, i am already drenched with sweat. And all the heat is giving mi a headache. So much for looking presentable, sweating like a dog...

Why can't they understand the practicallity of wearing berms and sandals to campus? NUS is so urbanised that it traps alot of heat esp in the afternoon. haha... the idea of a dress code was pretty dumb. Its not as if we are wearing underwear to campus. :P

RUles are meant to be broken if it is obselete or otherwise, stupid.......

Cors....

Module selection and module allocation are mission critical exercises for you as well as the university. There must be fairness, equity and responsibility. As the university advances towards a broad-based education, you will be required to enroll in modules across faculties, and a system must be established to facilitate you and at the same time allow the teaching departments to manage their resources optimally. It is hoped that a bidding system will accomplish these objectives. The bidding system requires you to make careful consideration of your priorities as each decision has an impact on your future choices - a good training ground to prepare you for life after graduation. It is an opportunity to educate you on the need to weigh your options, make decisions and live with the consequences of your actions.

What a whole bunch of bullshit.... what happens when u click on login???? It shows ....

"Please note that CORS Student Login will be available only from 20 Jul 2005 onwards. Loading page..."

Then ...

WTF???? cors is down AGAIN???? Whats new... its always down. And they claim that we are ignorant and all wanna log in at the same time. Come on, Its open from 9 to 5. And most of us have lessons as well. So most of us will be trying to log in at 9 so that we can get this done fast and be over with it. Well... here we are still clicking login and refresh since 9 oclock for the past 4 hours. Every min feeling more and more fustrated as the it seem to load at 14.4kps retro speed...... Then it shows error page asking u to try again..... What a "world class" piece of this system written by morons of the NUS.

talk about managing resources. What are they to teach us that when they can't even use their funds properly such as allocating more bandwidth to the CORs servers. Instead they replace floor tiles that are perfectly fine and build such a huge luxurious university hall that is otherwise useless other than for going on an "ego-trip" to show that it is prestigious and a 100 years old. Speaking of a 100 years, thats fallious.... Think about it 100 years ago nus is not even call nus... If nus is 100 years old, then singapore is then singapore is way more than 40 years old going back to the days of singapura and temasek.....

*this is only my point of view... you don't have to agree with me. Thats your problem. If what i said offended u, pls go the top right hand corner to the red X button and click on it to close this window. Negative feedback will not be entertained.

Food Venture for Kids...

Just did a 9 day exhibition! Its a part time job recommended by Kee Meng coz he cannot make it as he will be starting his next semester during the exhibition period. ( Ntu guy lah... ) This job was quite an eye-opener experience for me. Ok i did not learn much from this job, know abit here and there by being a kpoh and asking ppl kpoh questions!!! LOL. But still i can't say that its not a fruitful experience. Its one of my best part-time jobs that i enjoyed. Got to know some great ppl throughout the show. Ppl like Ivan (boss), Alan (electrician), Karen (OIC) and Vivien (operations).

Basically this exhibition is dedicated solely for kids. So, there are alot of children coming with their families. They are so cute. 98% of children love balloons. I was giving out balloons to them and each child have different reactions. Some gladly reached out their hand and reach for it. Some pretended not to want it. (shy lah ....) while some ask their parents if they can have it. LOL. There are even some who came forward to ask for it. But their faces all the same. They smile with delight upon recieving them with the innocence that only a child can exhibit. Its such a refreshing sight in this largely hypocritical world.

Here are some interesting lessons i learned from working in the food-fare....

Be careful when you buy food from the stall that sells taiwan sausages, fishballs and other finger foods. They are probabily "overnight" stuff. Many nights when i knocked off, they always had alot of stocks left. Then they jus dumped it into the freezer. The next day, they just heat it up then proceed to sell them again. Then when the stock runs low they fry fresh ones and place them at the bottom of the stack. So after all the mixing and stuff, god knows if the fishball u are eating were fried last week!!!! Yucks. Now i know why sometimes when i buy sausages, it tastes hard and unfresh.

When eating chicken rice, pls order the "white" one. Not the roasted one. When the hawker have left over white ones for the day, he will keep them and roast them to sell the next day. Most ppl love Roasted Chicken rice while being ignorant of this little secret. Heh heh ... now u know...... :P

When working in a food fare, always make friends with the drinks uncle. You might get free drinks. LOL.... If u are a girl, esp a goodlooking one, you dun have to make friend with them also will get free drinks. Wah lau they damn Zhong se Qin you one........ If u are a guy, you need to try harder. Gossiping in hokkien with them might help. Lending them some muscles will definitely be useful.

Here are the great ppl that i met!

Ivan is my boss. He is very nice guy. Whenever he is here at the foodfare, he will always buy me, nick and Alan lunch or treat us snacks. He even treats the Bangladesh workers when they come and move stuff. Very Generous. He is 36 and yet so successful. He is an entrepreneur and owns his own company, Ev-Ex. He also have a car, enough money to live comfortably and is married with two children. He is also easy on everything. Nick and I concluded that he is our idol man. 14 years later, must be like him.

Alan is a 55 year old electrician with a wealth of experience. Someone once said " what you lack in wisdom, you make it up with experience". How true is that. I realised that we can learn alot of stuff from our parents and our elders. Alan told mi that there are 3 type of ppl in this world. The first type are the planners. They have very clear goals and ambitions that will not waver. Guided by their vision and foresight, they will meticulously plan ahead and sough to fulfill their dreams and ambitions. The 2nd type are more common. They are the type that have some goal or ambitions but are sometimes quite undecided. So they might be disoriented along the way or be slowed down by unforeseen obstacles. Sometime through life, their goals gets clearer and they will work thoughts it with greater enlightenment. Through lots of hardwork and failures, they will finally succeed if they have preservation. The 3rd kind are dreamers. They can only see what is presently in front of them and are totally oblivious to what is going to happen for they future. They have no goals or ambitions and only look for shortterm advantage or petty gains. They are always very satisfied with the little they have and are never ambitious. They will never succeed in life and will be forever in the lows of society. After Alan said that to me i was actually quite shocked. This is so very true and its something that i have never thought of. I tell myself that i must never be a dreamer and must at the very least, be the "2nd type".
We also learn other stuff from old Alan. Like how to properly carve out the meat from a coconut using a flimsy plastic spoon, and how to bathe with freezing cold water. Sometimes i wonder how come he knows so much. Then i realised that he is very observant. He is also always trying to learn how stuff works. Throughout the event, he learnt how to cook certain stuff from the food vendors and he learnt some stuff from us as well. The spirit of never too old to learn...

Wisdom do comes with age huh.... :P

Karen is 33 with 2 daughters. Her two daughters both looks alot like her. Looks very funny when she is holding her 2 kids at both hands. Ivan also have 2 daughters. Hmmm its seems that ppl are having more daughters than sons. Looks like the next generations of guys will have no problem looking for girls :P I noticed that some of the families that came to the food fair all had similar looks. Dad looks like mom and their kids look like them. Pretty amusing huh.....

Okok enough for today. Super long entry. Too many things to write....

Secondly, this project lasts several days. In between there are many short and long breaks. And lots of time in between procastinating....

Happy Birthday!

Sormui's bday. We had buffet at Kuishibo, a japanese resturant in Suntec City Mall. What a great place it was. But before we got there....

Driving to Suntec city from Choa Chu Kang was quite a pain and i got terribly lost...

It took us 1.5 hours, 1/4 tank of fuel, and god knows how many U-turns before we got ourselves out of the urban maze, hit the right street and got to ourselves to our destination. Who says women can't read maps. Haha, she is an exception i guess. She navigated us there while i got hopelessly disorientated behind the wheel, driving like a madman trying to keep my temper in check :p

Nevertheless... we still got there!

Back to the resturant. I noticed that nowadays if u are dining in pairs, you will get a 2 seater table that is awfully close to another 2 seater table. It is as thou u are dining with 2 other strangers. What they say u can hear and vice-versa. Talk about a loss of personal space and privacy.... At times, i think we must be careful while attacking that piece of chicken or crab or it might just lose control and let if fly to your neighbouring diner's soup!
The food there is fantastic. Its authentic Japanese food, and you can eat as much as u want! Need i say more??? Let the pictures do the talking... (warning, do not look if u haven't had dinner yet. I am not responsible for yur rumbling stomach! )

We started off with Sushi. This picture was taken when we had already finished some of it!!! Just cannot wait till after the photo is taken... haha

This is the Japanese Steamboat. So cool huh! There is this little basket mounted on a small candle burner that resembles those u see being used for aroma therapy. On the little basket is a cone shape wax paper used to hold the soup!!! It tastes as great as the food. Next time i shall find the paper and try that at home.

Next, we had some finger foods. The fried prawns, softshell crabs and so on. Boy were they good.....

The Japanese makes one of the best egg custards! This one was simply delicious. Sormui dun like the pea. Hey, u better learn to eat yur veggies girl! There is a piece of chicken at the bottom. Its wierd that its there. Guess that its for the favouring.

And of course!!! Sashimi. No japanese buffet can be without it! I ate lotsa lotsa sashimi that night. I simply just love it.
