I am brain-dead. Just got home some 20 mins ago close to 1am. The night air is always so humid. My block is approximately 10 mins walk from the bus stop. So going out in the afternoons is a pain since by the time you get there, you are already sweating as though u ran a few blocks due to the afternoon heat. At night, you will just have to drag your tired feet all the way home while the humid air makes you all sweaty and sticky. This feeling sucks man.
Sometimes i just wished that the busstop would be a little nearer. So that i don't have to carry my heavy bag and walk that far, at other times i appreciate the fact that i am far enough from the road to have some piece and quiet. You don't hear buses roaring past, bikes screeching or cars horning over here. The only noise is that PLMGS is directly beneath my block and there can be quite abit of noise just after school hours. But its already an improvement. Before that, it was Serangoon Garden Secondary School and they are more capable of making a din.
I am really quite a hermit i guess. I am also really sensitive to noise. I get very irritated at the slightest noise whenever i am doing my work. :P Almost to the extend that i might throw a shoe at the source... Nowadays, taking the MRT can be rather irritating as well. You get countless reminders to report any suspicious items, constant messages telling you what the next stop is.... U got kids running around playing monkey on public trains while their parents act blur. I really wonder if there is something seriously wrong with parenthood these days. How can they allow their kids to run on rampages in public places???? I would smack him or her if my kid does that. You also got irritating people playing with the ringtones of their phones. Worst, the other day there was this guy that was playing his mp3s ALOUD on the train. Everyone can hear his music. And we all know what kinda fucked up music some ppl play right?!?! Come on, can he be more considerate?!?!?! No money to buy earphones is it??? Sometimes, a group of teenages will group together talking damn loudly. ARGH..............

I just hate taking public transport, how i wish i have my own car :P

what the fuck????

The Honorary Assistant Secretary of NUSSU, Aaron, had the opportunity of meeting up with the chairman of the CORS task force as well as the vice-dean of FASS, and their response to the problems of CORS is as follows:

Server Crashes
___________________________________________________
It is the result of irrational behaviour by students. NUS specially rents one of the most high-end servers available in Singapore for the entire CORS period for each semester. However, even the most powerful servers will not be able to handle the traffic if everyone decides to log in at the same time. The situation becomes worse when keep logging in and out once they sense a server slowdown because that action in itself, creates even more traffic.
___________________________________________________

Hey.... what kinda fucked up response is that??? Clearly they are trying to "smoke" thru the situation here and shifting the blame from their incompetent servers to us, the victims. One of the most high-end servers in Singapore??? What brand? From where? what are the technical specifications? This is one of the most fallacious piece of shit i have ever heard. How about having more servers? Of cause everyone is trying to log in at around the same time. We just want to get this damn thing done early in the morning and get on with our lives for the rest of the day. We don't want to spend the whole day in front of the computer screen and constantly clicking the refresh button while at the same time swearing all sorta vulgarities that our dear Army has taught us during our NS days!!!!

sigh...... they never learn do they? Looks like this is gonna be a every semester affair.......

Of NUS and dress code...

Attempted to follow to the so called NUS dress code that OSA setup god knows since when. There is a notice at the notice board outside the OSA office that gives u more information if u are interested.... Anyway, i wanted to do this as an experiment, so for the first time i wore jeans, shoes and t-shirt to campus in an attempt to be so called "presentable".

Its really not practical in singapores humid weather..... Today i had lessons at engine and science. Walking around campus nearly made me die of heatstroke. Before i even arrived to my first lesson for the day, i am already drenched with sweat. And all the heat is giving mi a headache. So much for looking presentable, sweating like a dog...

Why can't they understand the practicallity of wearing berms and sandals to campus? NUS is so urbanised that it traps alot of heat esp in the afternoon. haha... the idea of a dress code was pretty dumb. Its not as if we are wearing underwear to campus. :P

RUles are meant to be broken if it is obselete or otherwise, stupid.......

Cors....

Module selection and module allocation are mission critical exercises for you as well as the university. There must be fairness, equity and responsibility. As the university advances towards a broad-based education, you will be required to enroll in modules across faculties, and a system must be established to facilitate you and at the same time allow the teaching departments to manage their resources optimally. It is hoped that a bidding system will accomplish these objectives. The bidding system requires you to make careful consideration of your priorities as each decision has an impact on your future choices - a good training ground to prepare you for life after graduation. It is an opportunity to educate you on the need to weigh your options, make decisions and live with the consequences of your actions.

What a whole bunch of bullshit.... what happens when u click on login???? It shows ....

"Please note that CORS Student Login will be available only from 20 Jul 2005 onwards. Loading page..."

WTF???? cors is down AGAIN???? Whats new... its always down. And they claim that we are ignorant and all wanna log in at the same time. Come on, Its open from 9 to 5. And most of us have lessons as well. So most of us will be trying to log in at 9 so that we can get this done fast and be over with it. Well... here we are still clicking login and refresh since 9 oclock for the past 4 hours. Every min feeling more and more fustrated as the it seem to load at 14.4kps retro speed...... Then it shows error page asking u to try again..... What a "world class" piece of this system written by morons of the NUS.

talk about managing resources. What are they to teach us that when they can't even use their funds properly such as allocating more bandwidth to the CORs servers. Instead they replace floor tiles that are perfectly fine and build such a huge luxurious university hall that is otherwise useless other than for going on an "ego-trip" to show that it is prestigious and a 100 years old. Speaking of a 100 years, thats fallious.... Think about it 100 years ago nus is not even call nus... If nus is 100 years old, then singapore is then singapore is way more than 40 years old going back to the days of singapura and temasek.....

*this is only my point of view... you don't have to agree with me. Thats your problem. If what i said offended u, pls go the top right hand corner to the red X button and click on it to close this window. Negative feedback will not be entertained.

Food Venture for Kids...

Just did a 9 day exhibition! Its a part time job recommended by Kee Meng coz he cannot make it as he will be starting his next semester during the exhibition period. ( Ntu guy lah... ) This job was quite an eye-opener experience for me. Ok i did not learn much from this job, know abit here and there by being a kpoh and asking ppl kpoh questions!!! LOL. But still i can't say that its not a fruitful experience. Its one of my best part-time jobs that i enjoyed. Got to know some great ppl throughout the show. Ppl like Ivan (boss), Alan (electrician), Karen (OIC) and Vivien (operations).

Basically this exhibition is dedicated solely for kids. So, there are alot of children coming with their families. They are so cute. 98% of children love balloons. I was giving out balloons to them and each child have different reactions. Some gladly reached out their hand and reach for it. Some pretended not to want it. (shy lah ....) while some ask their parents if they can have it. LOL. There are even some who came forward to ask for it. But their faces all the same. They smile with delight upon recieving them with the innocence that only a child can exhibit. Its such a refreshing sight in this largely hypocritical world.

Here are some interesting lessons i learned from working in the food-fare....

Be careful when you buy food from the stall that sells taiwan sausages, fishballs and other finger foods. They are probabily "overnight" stuff. Many nights when i knocked off, they always had alot of stocks left. Then they jus dumped it into the freezer. The next day, they just heat it up then proceed to sell them again. Then when the stock runs low they fry fresh ones and place them at the bottom of the stack. So after all the mixing and stuff, god knows if the fishball u are eating were fried last week!!!! Yucks. Now i know why sometimes when i buy sausages, it tastes hard and unfresh.

When eating chicken rice, pls order the "white" one. Not the roasted one. When the hawker have left over white ones for the day, he will keep them and roast them to sell the next day. Most ppl love Roasted Chicken rice while being ignorant of this little secret. Heh heh ... now u know...... :P

When working in a food fare, always make friends with the drinks uncle. You might get free drinks. LOL.... If u are a girl, esp a goodlooking one, you dun have to make friend with them also will get free drinks. Wah lau they damn Zhong se Qin you one........ If u are a guy, you need to try harder. Gossiping in hokkien with them might help. Lending them some muscles will definitely be useful.

Here are the great ppl that i met!

Ivan is my boss. He is very nice guy. Whenever he is here at the foodfare, he will always buy me, nick and Alan lunch or treat us snacks. He even treats the Bangladesh workers when they come and move stuff. Very Generous. He is 36 and yet so successful. He is an entrepreneur and owns his own company, Ev-Ex. He also have a car, enough money to live comfortably and is married with two children. He is also easy on everything. Nick and I concluded that he is our idol man. 14 years later, must be like him.

Alan is a 55 year old electrician with a wealth of experience. Someone once said " what you lack in wisdom, you make it up with experience". How true is that. I realised that we can learn alot of stuff from our parents and our elders. Alan told mi that there are 3 type of ppl in this world. The first type are the planners. They have very clear goals and ambitions that will not waver. Guided by their vision and foresight, they will meticulously plan ahead and sough to fulfill their dreams and ambitions. The 2nd type are more common. They are the type that have some goal or ambitions but are sometimes quite undecided. So they might be disoriented along the way or be slowed down by unforeseen obstacles. Sometime through life, their goals gets clearer and they will work thoughts it with greater enlightenment. Through lots of hardwork and failures, they will finally succeed if they have preservation. The 3rd kind are dreamers. They can only see what is presently in front of them and are totally oblivious to what is going to happen for they future. They have no goals or ambitions and only look for shortterm advantage or petty gains. They are always very satisfied with the little they have and are never ambitious. They will never succeed in life and will be forever in the lows of society. After Alan said that to me i was actually quite shocked. This is so very true and its something that i have never thought of. I tell myself that i must never be a dreamer and must at the very least, be the "2nd type".
We also learn other stuff from old Alan. Like how to properly carve out the meat from a coconut using a flimsy plastic spoon, and how to bathe with freezing cold water. Sometimes i wonder how come he knows so much. Then i realised that he is very observant. He is also always trying to learn how stuff works. Throughout the event, he learnt how to cook certain stuff from the food vendors and he learnt some stuff from us as well. The spirit of never too old to learn...

Wisdom do comes with age huh.... :P

Karen is 33 with 2 daughters. Her two daughters both looks alot like her. Looks very funny when she is holding her 2 kids at both hands. Ivan also have 2 daughters. Hmmm its seems that ppl are having more daughters than sons. Looks like the next generations of guys will have no problem looking for girls :P I noticed that some of the families that came to the food fair all had similar looks. Dad looks like mom and their kids look like them. Pretty amusing huh.....

Okok enough for today. Super long entry. Too many things to write....
